With an estimated 2,000 people in attendance, the first Starbuck Dragon Boat Festival kicked off Saturday at Starbuck City Park.

Starbuck Chamber of Commerce Director Lori Vaadeland said the chamber board was happy with the good turnout which featured 19 teams.

"I think it was a fun event for people of all ages," she said.

Vaadeland also thanked the Gladys Ness Brang Foundation for making a donation to the chamber to help make the event possible.
