This year, Quandt said there were just two changes voters should be aware of before heading to the polls. One change is aimed at making it easier for those who are overseas to vote, by emailing an envelope and ballot to voters and having the ballot mailed back. The other change allows people to use bills from the internet as proof of residency, provided the bill meets certain criteria, such as having the person’s address on the bill. RegisteringIn Minnesota, voters can register the day of elections, but will need to provide certain forms of identification and proof of residency. To register on the day of the election voters must have one of the following with your current name and address to prove residency in the precinct to verify your address: • A valid Minnesota driver’s license, learner’s permit, Minnesota ID card, or receipt for any of these Don’t have an updated drivers license or have you recently moved, voters can alternatively provide a proof of identification from the list below as well as a current bill with your current name and address in the precinct. 1. Photo identification (may be expired) 2. Bills (delivered electronically or by mail) due within 30 days of the election day |
