Final year end meeting of the Starbuck City CouncilThe City of Starbuck conducted the following business at its special city council meeting on Monday, Dec. 29. • Approved setting payroll to biweekly for all employees. • Approved $2,224.60 for City Building Inspector Dan Marthaler for his annual payment. • Approved payment to Northland Trust totalling $2,325 for its work associated with the refunding bond passed earlier this fall. Northland Trust was the bonding agent for the new bond. • Approved contracting with KDV to do the 2008 city audit. • Approved accepting a FEMA grant to purchase a new fire truck for the City of Starbuck. The city needed to allocate five percent of $192,000 or, $9,600, to receive the grant. The money will be taken out of the fire department’s new truck fund. The approval of purchasing the truck is contingent on the League of Minnesota Cities accepting the bids already received by the fire department. Should the bids not be accepted, the fire department would need to seek additional bids before purchasing the truck. • Heard from City Clerk/Treasurer Diana Schlief who stated the city will lose approximately $33,822 in Local Government Aid due to the state budget cuts. The amount will leave the city with $151,909 in LGA funding for the second half amount in 2008. |
