LGA Cuts Hurt County Cities

The governor's budget would call for the city to receive $670,465 in 2009 and $572,899 in 2010. That represents reductions of LGA of $89,600 in 2009 and $187,226 in 2010.

Starbuck, Pope County's second largest city and second greatest LGA recipient would see similar reductions percentage wise.

Starbuck was scheduled to receive $382,900 in 2009. The new figures in the governor's budget call for $323,155 in 2009 and $258,143 in 2010. That represents reductions of $59,745 in 2009 and $124,757 in 2010.

Cyrus, scheduled to receive $78,419 in 2009, would receive $72,466 in 2009 and $65,987 in 2010, reductions of $5,953 and $12,432 respectively.

Lowry, which was scheduled to receive $51,761 in 2009, would receive $44,753 in 2009 and $37,126 in 2010, reductions of $7,008 in 2009 and $14,635 in 2010.

Farwell, which was scheduled to receive $15,112 in 2009, would receive $13,960 in 2009 and $12,706 in 2010, reductions of $1,152 and $2,406 respectively.

Sedan was certified for LGA of 7,352 for 2009. The governor's budget, if enacted, would result in LGA of $6,247 in 2009 and $5,045 in 2010, reductions of $1,105 and $2,307 respectively.

Villard was scheduled to receive $37,734 in LGA in 2009. The governor's budget calls for payments of $32,485 in 2009 and $26,772 in 2010, reductions of $5,249 in 2009 and $10,962 in 2010.

Westport was scheduled to receive $5,425 in 2009 but would receive $4,912 in 2009 and $4,355 in 2010, reductions of $513 in 2009 and $1,070 in 2010.

The city of Long Beach does not receive LGA.
