"We feel, the internet is the selling point for Starbuck and the Lake Minnewaska Area," she said. Some of the new features on the Web site include: a rotating picture on the home page, places to see, where to stay and eat, as well as various landmarks and sightseeing locations for visitors to take note. But the new Web site simply won't help showcase Starbuck to visitors, the site will give all of the SACC members a chance to introduce their business and let people know what special events are happening in their store. Vaadeland said the site will give businesses an opportunity to put information about such things as open house and special events at a central location online. Vaadeland said each chamber member will be able to upload the information on their web page for free. Anyone who would like to set up their business page is being asked to contact the chamber office and a representative will work with each business as needed to set up the site. Rather than hiring out help to update the Web site, all of the updates will be done in-house by volunteers who will receive the necessary training. By doing all of the updates in-house, the chamber can cut down on the costs of operating and maintaining the Web site. Though the Web site is new, the address will remain the same at www.starbuckmn.org. Vaadeland said "we're excited for everyone to see our new Web site," and is encouraging everyone to check out the new piece of Starbuck. |
