Stationed at Camp Virginia in Kuwait the 151st will provide convoy security and force protection throughout the Kuwait and Iraqi area. The unit will also be responsible for escorting logistical supplies to coalition and Iraqi forces, according to the Minnesota National Guard. The soldiers will depart for training in Fort Hood, Texas, in April before being deployed to Kuwait. For approximately 73 percent of the unit's soldier's, this will be their first deployment overseas. Another 25 percent of the unit's solders will be making their second tour of duty. Currently, there are two farewell celebrations planned for the 151st. On Saturday, March 28, the units stationed from Olivia, Morris, and Ortonville will hold their farewell celebration. On Saturday, April 4, soldiers who are part of the Montevideo, Marshall, Appleton, and Madison units will hold a farewell celebration as well. |
