The data gathered from the study will reveal where the phosphorus is coming from and where reductions need to be made for the lakes to return to healthy levels. The Federal Clean Water Act requires states to identify and restore impaired waters, and this study is a step toward restoring the local lakes, according to Tim James, Project Manager with the MPCA. Opportunity to learn moreIn an effort to bring interested parties together, the MPCA and Pope Soil and Water Conservation District will host two informational meetings on Tuesday, May 12 at the Minnewaska House (24895 State Highway 29, Glenwood). One meeting will be held at 5 p.m., and the second is set for 7 p.m. A light buffet will be available. During the meetings, the project team will present a summary of the available data, review assessments of the existing water quality of each lake and answer questions regarding the TMDL study.
