Other restrictions are in place for donors under the age of 19, depending on the height and sex of the donor there may be a higher weight requirement, and for those who have recently donated blood. Height and weight requirements for prospective male and female donors under the age of 19 are as follows: Males • 4'10" tall must weigh 120 lbs. • 4'11" tall must weigh 115 lbs. • 5' or taller must weigh 110 lbs. Females • 4'10" tall must weigh 146 lbs. • 4'11" tall must weigh 141 lbs. • 5' tall must weigh 138 lbs. • 5'1" tall must weigh 133 lbs. • 5'2" tall must weigh 129 lbs. • 5'3" tall must weigh 124 lbs. • 5'4" tall must weigh 118 lbs. • 5'5" tall must weigh 115 lbs. • 5'6" or taller must weigh 110 lbs. Parental release forms can also be picked up at the MAHS office. In addition to the blood drive at MAHS on October 21, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., a blood drive will be held at Glenwood Lutheran Church on October 20. The Glenwood Blood Drive will run from 12:30-6:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to donate blood during one of the two blood drives is being asked to call ahead or register for an appointment by visiting the American Red Cross online at www.givebloodgivelife.org. Appointments can also be made by contacting 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543). Those who would like donate blood at the Starbuck Blood Drive at MAHS can do so by contacting the MAHS office at 239-4800. |
