The event featured a talk by guest speaker John Gilbert, a board member for Habitat for Humanity International. Gilbert talked of working with former President Jimmy Carter on home-building projects. He said that Habitat for Humanity has provided shelter for 1.5 million people in countries all over the world. He said he first became involved at the local level. "This is about more than putting a roof over our head," he said. "It's about providing a family with a clean, decent, stable home and with that it increases the family's dignity, pride, educational and job opportunities."
