In addition to cross country skiing, GLSP visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, ice fishing, and approximately nine miles of ungroomed but well maintained snowmobile trails. Children and adults who are looking for a fun place to go sledding can also come out to the park. While there isn't a designated hill for sledding there are a number of hills on the park grounds which would make an ideal place for fun for children of all ages.

"It is a good place to bring kids and if you have your permit it is free," said Feigum.

To cross country ski on the trail there is a nominal charge of $5 per day for a pass. For those who plan on skiing more regularly, there is a $15 a year pass or $40 for a three year pass that can be used on any state groomed trail.

For those people who are looking to spend a night or weekend at the state park this year, there are four new year-round cabins now at GLSP. The cabins, which are both heated and feature electricity, were installed at the park last summer. With snow on the roof and bright moon light in the evening, Feigum said the cabins have a unique, old country feel in the winter.

To make a reservation at one of the cabins contact 866-857-2757. For any other information about GLSP, contact the park office at 239-2860.
