"If the world is cold make it your business to build fires" - Horace TraubelThings have been going smoothly in the office, but hectic. I'm sorry it took me so long to get an update out but here you go. The needs have been high this winter, thanks to the many donations I have been able to get most needs met. Some exciting news we received yesterday: Sheila Korby has been named the new Executive Director of Someplace Safe. Sheila has been a manager since before I began with the agency. Her knowledge and passion will serve the agency well, I believe. Ladies of All Ages Tea It's that time of the year again. I am excited to announce that Nashville Recording Artist, Connie Lee will be performing at the Tea this year. I am very excited she has agreed to do this for us. So plans have begun with the Tea happening on April 22nd at Lakeside Ballroom from 1-3. Things needed for the tea are hostesses to set and decorate tables, servers, baked goods, teacups, prizes for the teacups, greeters, and organizers. If there is anything you can help with please let me know or if you want to buy tickets just call or email. Action Day We will be taking a bus to Action Day to End Violence on March 6th. FOCUS kids from the High School will be going with, we will be picking up more people in Alexandria and Sauk Centre. This is a day we meet with our representatives to talk about what's happening with bills related to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. There is also a rally in the Capital Rotunda at 12 with speakers and a time to remember those who lost their lives to Domestic Violence in 2011. If anyone is interested in going with please let me know. Office Needs I have a couple of people coming in to sort donations, add Tom's Receipts, write Thank You's and help with events. This has been a huge help, if anyone else is interested let me know. Currently the office is in need of:
Tom's Cards Gas Cards Feminine products pots and pans Small appliances(toasters, coffe pots, can openers)The list is short this time as there has been some terrific donations. I have gotten furniture steadily this winter thanks to the milder temps, these items do go out almost as fast as they come in so if you are looking to get rid of basic necessity furniture please check with me. I will send out the flyer about the tea in the beginning of March for a reminder or if you wish to copy and post somewhere that would be wonderful. Thanks for all you do, Beth Peltier Someplace Safe, Pope Outreach |
