From the Glenwood Herald, September 15, 1911

pcmuesum_build_250Berry & Toombs have in the last week fitted out 15 rooms in the third story of the new Furtney building.  Mr. Furtney intends to use these rooms for rooming purposes and has already rented a number of them.

The Terrace school house is now one of the best school houses in Pope County as far as heating and ventilation is concerned.  They have gone to more expense than most boards and now have a system entirely in keeping with the requirements of state board.  Rowe Bros. of Glenwood finished installing this heating and ventilating plant before school started last Monday.

Mr. & Mrs. Olaus Fossen and little son, Leland, of Brooten and Mr. & Mrs. D.A. Davidson and family took the big boat to Starbuck last Sunday morning and spent the day at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Fossen of Starbuck.

We are trying to get the industrial building ready for the county fair, and we have reason to believe that the work will be done before the first day of the fair. Come to the fair and be sure to bring something to exhibit.

Ed Chalenberg was among those who took in the state fair, and he also took in quite a few exhibits in the implement and hardware line.

The Glenwood Herald is certainly giving away some grand prizes for contestants. All those who wish to enter the contest should not delay.  Get the head start, and see if you can’t win the Ford automobile.  The Glenwood Herald is one of the newsiest papers in the county.

Hunters can be seen in large numbers now days and “No hunting allowed” notices are seen at every turn.
