Minnewaska Area High School Senior Ryan Kleven Place In Stamp ContestMinnewaska Area High School Senior Ryan Kleven earned first place in the senior high division of the 2010 Federal Duck Stamp design contest. Kleven, son of Cheryl and Jeff Kleven, of Glenwood, used pastels to create the Ringnecked Duck portrait. "I was shocked, but happy because I spent a lot of time on it, so it was a nice surprise," Kleven said. Three other MAHS students also stood out among the contest's 1,200 entries from across the state. The following student-artists received honorable mentions for their artwork: Erica Stoen, 12th grade; Sabrina Andersen, 12th grade; and Travis Eurle, 11th grade. The contest entries were judged by wildlife artists and an awards ceremony was held May 8 in the Twin Cities. The winning designs will also be on display during the Student Art Show May 21-27 at the high school. |
