Formerly worked at Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow LakeDr. Greg Rapp is back in Starbuck after working at Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services in Elbow Lake from 2004-2011 Rapp is returning to where he calls home. Rapp received his PA-C degree from Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center in 1996. After receiving his degree Rapp started working with Dr. Robert Bösl at the Starbuck Clinic. During that time Rapp worked in the clinic and also did hospital work in the old hospital (Minnewaska District Hospital) which closed and is currently the Glacial Hills Elementary building. He moved to the Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services in 2004. Rapp's father is a Physician in Elbow Lake and offered him the opportunity to work there. "I was helping my dad out up there," Rapp said. Rapp was a graduate of Elbow Lake High School so he has ties to that community. After Rapp got the job in Elbow Lake he had to commute everyday from Starbuck which is about a 50 minute drive. Rapp said not having to commute everyday will be a good thing and that he is excited to get to see patients he has known for 16 years from his days of working here before. He also is excited for the opportunity to meet new patients. Dr. Bösl and Dr. Rapp have been talking for awhile and the timing was right for Rapp to come back to work in Starbuck. "My home is Starbuck and I want to work here until I retire," Rapp said. Rapp will officially start working at the Starbuck Clinic on April 11. He was working in the Clinic the week of March 28-April 1 to cover for Dr. Bösl who was on vacation. One challenge that Rapp has noticed from his week back at Starbuck Clinic. "They have new electronic medical records, we didn't have those in Elbow Lake so it will take some getting used to." Rapp said. Rapp and his wife, Nancy are residents of the Starbuck community and have two children, Corbin 19 and Celeste 14. They have lived in Starbuck for 16 years. "I'm glad to be back in the community. The Stevens Community Medical Center is a good fit. I look forward to possibly being involved and caring for the hospital in Stevens. As far as being back in Starbuck, "It's a nice place to live, with good people," Rapp said. Office hours at the Starbuck Clinic are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p,.m. "I'm open to seeing any kinds of problems," Rapp said. |
