We trust you enjoyed your holiday weekend and the extra nice weather on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, 'Mother Nature' is not going to cooperate with this evening's Community Christmas Tree Decorating that was previously planned. We will be rescheduling the event for Wednesday (hopefully) evening and Thursday morning (if needed) and the location has also changed. The ground froze before the Community Christmas Tree was able to be relocated in front of BK Enterprises and while the tree moving is still planned for Spring 2011 to get ready for next year's festivities, this year we will use the trees at Central Square as our Community Christmas Tree for decorating! We will keep you posted on the schedule of events as this pending winter storm passes through the area today and tomorrow as to the exact rescheduled time! In the meantime, thanks for your assistance and we look forward to decorating in a couple of days!

Just a few requests from the various committees that the Chamber is helping to facilitate with events, activities, and decorating themes as we head into the holiday/winter season which all help to enhance the "Shop Locally" promotion and Minnewaska Dollar give-a-ways that the Chamber has offered for several years now. This email is going out to the entire membership just in case I have not been able talk to you in person yet with a detailed list of what is currently planned or in the works... (the list is kind of lengthy and I apologize for that...):

Dear Chamber Members,

Attached you will find an invitation to attend this year’s Salute To Industry which will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at the Minnewaska House.  Ticket price is $15 per person with the buffet beginning at 11:30 and the meeting at 12 Noon.  We will be honoring all of the past recipients of the Salute To Industry Award with a special Salute this year to Thawzall, LLC of Glenwood.  The attached invitation will give you further information about the program, the menu and past recipients of the Salute plaque.

At your earliest convenience, please call us at 634-3636 to let us know how many people will be attending from your business or industry.  Please forward information about this event to others who may wish to attend.  This event is open for the general public and we would appreciate your participation as another Pope County industry is Saluted this year.

Other Upcoming Events

The Community Halloween Party will be held this year on Saturday, October 31st from 3 to 5 PM at Central Square.  The Chamber is helping to coordinate the fundraising for the event and Businesses and individuals have been providing prizes or donating funds.  In addition, Minnewaska Floral Designs and The Valley Troll are conducting storewide sales from Columbus Day (October 12) through Halloween (October 31) with a 10% discount for all chamber members and their employees as a Chamber benefit.  These two businesses will be donating an additional 5% of sales to the fund for the Community Halloween Party.

We appreciate your support for the Community Halloween Party and we will be recognizing all of the donations in the Pope County Tribune.  If you wish to help with door prizes or donations, please give us a call at the Chamber.

Battle of the Businesses Bowling will be held again this year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  We will be sending out flyers for the event in the next few weeks.
