Starbuck Study Club of Starbuck, Minnesota was recently recognized by the GFWC (General Federation of Women Clubs). Starbuck Study Club was one of ten GFWC clubs in the state of Minnesota that met or surpassed the 2008 membership drive. The club received national recognition in the February edition of GFWC Clubwoman, the national magazine of the GFWC. ACT in OCT is the GFWC's annual nationwide member recruitment campaign. The theme for 2008 was "Four More Would be Great in October '08. The Starbuck Study Club met that challenge with an addition of nine new members.GFWC membership director, Debbe Gladstone, answers the question, "What do women want"? Women want community service activities with a group of like-minded women addressing the topics that matter to them, and the opportunity to make a real difference where they live." Across the United States, four hundred and fourteen clubs met the goal and 3,018 new members stepped up to welcome the challenge. The 2008 campaign surpassed all previous ACT in OCT records. |
