An annual funfilled weekend is planned for family and friends to celebrate and commemorate Starbuck's heritage.
This event is held on the weekend closest to the 4th of July. The weekend includes an Invitational Golf Tournament, Street dance featuring Johnny Holmes, a beach party, a 5K and 10K run, a kids carnival, a kids tractor pull, a fly in breakfast, a craft fair, fireworks on Saturday night, kiddie parade, 85 unit parade, concluding with the Miss Minnewaska pageant.
Heritage Days is a weekend to reflect on the history of the community and to those community members that contributed to our past and to those who are creating our present and forming our future. This year will be Starbuck's 28th annual celebration of this event.

Eple Tiden is an Autumn market day celebration
held at the Starbuck Depot and sponsored by the
Starbuck Depot Society.
In Norwegian, "Eple Tiden" means "Apple Time"
and the festival's main feature is apples harvested
at this time of year but also includes other Fall
produce brought into Starbuck by various vendors.

apples, pumpkins and other garden produce.

The Starbuck Depot Society raises money during this event
by selling lunch, which includes pork sandwiches, apple
pie and ice cream and lefse. Also on sale are many crafts
and souvenirs. festival-goers can also expect to enjoy
musical entertainment and various displays and
artisans demonstrating their craft.

Lefse Dagen - 2011 - Starbuck MN
The 2011 LEFSE DAGEN celebration will be held
on Saturday, May 14th in Starbuck, MN 56381
from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Short History
The Lefse Dagen celebration, which began in 1987, is sponsored by the Starbuck Depot Society and supported by the Starbuck Study Club. This celebration has a twofold purpose:

To commemorate the record setting, and still unbroken, world's largest lefse baked during the Starbuck Centennial Celebration in 1983 by a group of Starbuck Lions

To hold open house at the Starbuck Depot Square. The site where the 70 pound lefse with a diameter of 9 feet 8 inches was baked.
Many exciting activities are planned for this special day in our small town of 1300 residents. Activities included music from various groups, Scandianvain food, crafts sales, Shari Opdahl and the Glacial Hills Elementary singers and Lefse making demonstations.

Lefse Recipe: (Corrine Hoium)
Traditionally this recipe is used by local groups during Scandinavian events held throughout the year.
Ingredients:
- 5 lb. Russet potatoes (pealed and cooked)
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 pound butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups flour
Baking Instructions:
Mash the potatoes with the whipping cream, butter or margarine, salt & sugar. Cool in the refrigerator over night. Rice potatoes and add the flour. Roll and bake (1/3 cup makes one lefse round). One batch makes 30 lefse rounds.
Rommegrot Recipe: (Mrs Henning Lysen)
Traditionally this recipe is used by local groups during Scandinavian events held throughout the year.
Ingredients:
- 1 pint thick whipping cream
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup boiled milk
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Baking Instructions:
Boil ream about 20 minutes, then add flour and continue stirring until butter separates. Then drain off butter. Add the boiled hot milk gradually, stirring so as to make it smooth. Cook for about 10 minutes, add salt and sugar, pour into bowl, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and butter. Serve hot
Sodt Suppe (fruit soup) Recipe: (Mrs Gerhard (Mina) Landmark)
Traditionally this recipe is used by local groups during Scandiavian events held throughout the year.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs prunes (soaked over night
- 1 lb raisins
- 1 can apricots
- 2 small cinnamon sticks
- 1 lemon
- 2 cups sugar
Baking Instructions:
Slowly cook prunes and raisins. Use 2 qts of this juice to cook with 1 cup tapioca. Then add it to mixture. Cook apricots (if dried cook separately) and mix all together. Makes 6 - 8 qts

Thousands of people come to Glenwood Minnesota each year to celebrate the three day festival of Waterama on the beautiful shores of Lake Minnewaska. An exciting weekend with its 100-unit parade, kiddie parade, lighted pontoon parade, water shows, pageants, dances, sporting events, and running races. When you need a break from the activities, there is plenty of food to take care of your appetite. Other activities include Crazy Day sales, Art and Craft Show, Car Show, state of the art fireworks, and a community worship service. You will see why this is the largest community celebration of its kind in West Central Minnesota. Plan now to come to Glenwood and enjoy Waterama the last full weekend in July.
Glenwood is located in west-central Minnesota with a population around 2,500 people.
