SynopsisSometimes, everything that can go wrong will. It's summer and time for backyard fun and the semi-annual Sludge family get-together. The morning of the relative disaster begins with the snooty yankee neighbor next door, Pamela Chambers (Tracy Peper), who warns the Sludges that she plans to draft a petition for eviction because the Sludge's noxious, weed-infested landscape does not promote a safe and attractive community. Scrambling to get the plastic silverware polished (with help from Mama Hooper/Eileen Halvorson) and fried chicken on the grill (with help from Papa Hooper/Randy Pederson), Eloise (Natalie Bircher) considers Pamela's uppity threats to be empty threats until a police officer (Mike Pattee) shows up to arrest Harley Wayne (Scott Banta), Eloise's husband, for trampling Pamela's perennial garden with his four-wheeler. The barbeque heats up when Virgil (Tim Lang) and Margaret (Mavis Pattee) have their first real lovers' spat and Ellard (Curt Bredeson), Virgil's best friend, proposes to Virgil's sister Bertha Mae (Kris Goracke) using visual aids, and the 95-year old matriarch of the family (Erma Sivertson) announces her plans to elope with her new boyfriend, Mr. Perky (Richard Sivertson). Three of the Sludge's cousins, Mo Mo (Mindi Jorgenson), Curly Sue (Deb Billehus) and Larry Sue (Jan Pauly) show up and make Ellard's marriage proposal plans more difficult by the minute, and Tiny (Jan Nordmeyer), Aunt Polly (Pam Henrickson) and Uncle Lester (Chuck Grussing) stop in and add to the festivities with their interesting "quirks." The bedlam continues and the comedy is almost nonstop in this hilarious but true account of the worst family reunion in the history of the Sludge's nutty family tree. |
