The Starbuck area is very fortunate to be home to Glacial Lakes State Park, located just five miles South of Starbuck. This 2,400-acre state park was established by the Minnesota State Legislature in 1962, area contains lakes, Oak wood, hills, restored prairies lands, marshland, wildflowers, wide variety of birds and many varieties of wildlife.
Glacial Lakes State Park offers sixteen miles of hiking trails, nine miles of snowmobile trails, and five miles of cross-country ski trails provide sporting opportunities year round. There are two picnic areas able to accommodate a total of approximately three hundred fifty people. The impressive hills in the park offer a tempting sled run to kids of all ages in the winter months. Throughout the park, hundreds of varieties of wild flowers have been identified, along with many other native prairie plants. Wildlife is abundant, ranging from fish and fowl to big and small game animals.
